Ukrainian Orthodox Church declares independence from Moscow Patriarchate
The Ukrainian Orthodox Church declared complete independence and independence from the Russian Orthodox Church. The corresponding decision was made by the Council.
According to RIA Novosti, this was reported on the UOC Facebook page.
“The Council condemns the war as a violation of God’s commandment “Thou shalt not kill!” and expresses its condolences to all those who suffered in the war,” the statement said.
At the same time, representatives of the UOC asked the Russian authorities not to stop the negotiation process and continue the search for a strong and clever word to stop the war in Ukraine.
“We express our disagreement with the position of Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia regarding the war in Ukraine. The Council adopted the relevant additions and amendments to the Statute on the Administration of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, which testify to the complete independence and independence of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church,” the Church said.
