Ukrainian parliament votes to extend martial law and mobilisation

Ukraine’s parliament, the Verkhovna Rada, has voted to extend martial law in the country for another 90 days from August 2, according to a live broadcast of the parliamentary session.
The measure was supported by 313 lawmakers. Under the decision, martial law will remain in effect until October 31. It marks the 20th time the parliament has approved an extension of the measure.
The Verkhovna Rada also voted to extend general mobilisation for an additional 90 days starting August 2. The decision was backed by 311 members of parliament.
As a result, the mobilisation period will likewise remain in force until October 31.
