Ukrainian “thief-in-law” arrested in Poland
Polish authorities have arrested a 44-year-old Ukrainian national known as a “thief-in-law” in a joint operation conducted by criminal investigators and the Internal Security Agency, Polsat News reports.
According to police, the man held a high-ranking position in post-Soviet organised crime networks. He has a prior criminal record for serious offences, including murder, and was involved in conflicts between criminal groups.
While no specific crimes on Polish territory have been attributed to him, authorities consider the presence of such figures a potential threat to national security.
The arrest took place at a hotel in Warsaw. The individual was taken to the Wola district police station and subsequently handed over to border service officials. He has been issued a ban on residence within the Schengen Area.
