Ukrenergo chief warns of ongoing Russian targeted assaults on national grid
Ukraine’s state energy operator, Ukrenergo, has warned of another impending attack on the country’s energy infrastructure.
As Caliber.Az reports, citing Ukrainian media, Chairman of the Ukrenergo Management Board Vitalii Zaichenko addressed the situation during a televised marathon.
“Forecasting at the moment is extremely difficult because we understand that the enemy is preparing for another strike. This is a recurring pattern—we have observed since the beginning of autumn that large-scale attacks on the energy system take place approximately every ten days.”
To recall, emergency restoration efforts are being carried out in Ukraine’s Donetsk, Odesa, Mykolaiv, Kherson, and Kharkiv oblasts.
Due to the constant strikes, measures to restrict electricity consumption are being implemented across the country to balance the power system. Authorities, including the State Energy Regulatory Commission and regional administrations, are working to free up additional capacity and ensure fair electricity distribution.
“Despite everything, the Ukrainian energy sector is functioning as a single entity. We remain a unified energy system, operating in parallel with Europe, with all flows conducted according to agreements with our partners. We are using import capacity and, if necessary, emergency assistance,” the Ministry of Energy said.
