UN assesses Azerbaijan's efforts to transform healthcare system PHOTO
A meeting convened at the Azerbaijani Health Ministry welcomed the resident-representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Alessandra Roccasalva.
Emphasizing Azerbaijan's productive collaboration with various UN specialized agencies, Health Minister Teymur Musayev highlighted the strategic directions outlined in the 'Framework Document on Cooperation in the Field of Sustainable Development for 2021-2025'.
He underscored the nation's fruitful partnership with the UN Development Programme across multiple sectors, notably in healthcare.
Minister Musayev reiterated Azerbaijan's commitment to achieving universal health coverage and enhancing the resilience of its healthcare system against pandemics and acute diseases as pivotal aspects of their cooperation.
Reflecting on the recent XI Global Baku Forum held in March, he recalled the meeting between the Azerbaijani President and UN Administrator Achim Steiner, where the president extended an invitation for COP29, stressing Azerbaijan's dedication to green transition despite its status as a fossil fuel exporting nation.
Expressing optimism for the continued growth of bilateral relations, Minister Musayev concluded his remarks.
Alessandra Roccasalva, in response, conveyed gratitude for the warm reception and hospitality extended, acknowledging Azerbaijan's substantial efforts in health system transformation.
She expressed contentment with the ongoing collaboration between Azerbaijan and UNDP in advancing the Sustainable Development Goals and offered UNDP's readiness for close cooperation in green growth and digital transformation aligned with Azerbaijan's national priorities.
The meeting also facilitated discussions on prospects for cooperation in construction and reconstruction efforts in recently liberated territories from the 44-day Patriotic War, along with other mutual concerns and interests.
