UN chief visits Egypt
UN Secretary-General António Guterres has arrived in Egypt as part of his annual Ramadan solidarity trip.
The Secretary General is expected to visit the hospital in the city of El-Arish, where Palestinians taken from the Gaza Strip for medical treatment are being treated, Caliber.Az reports, citing the UN website.
After that, he will address the press at the Rafah checkpoint on the border between Egypt and Gaza.
The UN deputy spokesperson Farhan Haq said at a news conference earlier on March 23 that Guterres would be visiting the northern Sinai Peninsula and the Rafah border with the Gaza Strip, and will meet with humanitarian aid workers.
He added that Guterres will have a Ramadan iftar dinner in Cairo with refugees from Sudan and also meet with Egyptian officials.
He further mentioned that Guterres will visit the facilities of the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) during his visit to Jordan.
