UN confirms more than 6,300 civilian deaths in Ukraine since start of war
22 October 2022 11:16
As of 18 October, the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights has recorded 15,956 civilian casualties: 6,322 killed and 9,634 wounded.
The UN Under-Secretary-General for Political Affairs, Rosemary DiCarlo shared the figures on October 21 at the UN Security Council meeting, Anadolu Agency reports.
She also noted that at least 397 children were killed.
The actual casualty figures are likely to be much higher, she added.
DiCarlo informed Security Council members that Russian Federation had launched a series of attacks on population centres across Ukraine in recent days, "which is worrying".
