UN raises concerns over Israeli strikes on homes in Lebanon
17 March 2026 15:28
The United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights has expressed concern over Israeli airstrikes targeting residential buildings in Lebanon, citing potential violations of international humanitarian law.
According to France 24, UN Human Rights Office spokesperson Thameen Al-Kheetan said in Geneva on Tuesday that entire residential buildings in densely populated areas have been destroyed in the strikes.
“As a result of Israeli airstrikes, entire residential buildings in densely populated areas have been destroyed, often killing members of the same family, including women and children,” he told journalists.
He added that “such attacks raise concerns under international humanitarian law.”
