UN says Global South NGO platform already operating as partner in alliance framework

The UN Office for South-South Cooperation (UNOSSC) will work more closely with the Global South NGO Platform through joint initiatives under the Global South–South and triangular cooperation framework, a senior UN official has said.

According to the Azerbaijani state news agency, UNOSSC Director Dima Al-Khatib told reporters that cooperation would be expanded via the Global South–South and Triangular Cooperation Alliance.

Commenting on the platform’s standing within the UN system, Al-Khatib said it had already effectively become a partner.

“They are already partners. By becoming a member of the Global Alliance, the platform has acquired partner status,” she said.
