UN Security Council to hold meeting on Ukraine
The UN Security Council will hold a meeting on Ukraine on Thursday. The Security Council will discuss the problems of protecting the civilian population and civilian infrastructure in a war.
It is reported by Ukrinform.
This issue will be considered within the framework of the recently adopted agenda of the Security Council for 2022 "Maintaining Peace and Security of Ukraine".
From the UN at the meeting, Secretary General António Guterres or his Deputy for Political Affairs Rosemary DiCarlo (if Guterres does not have time to arrive in New York from a business trip to Africa), Deputy Secretary General for Humanitarian Affairs Martin Griffiths and UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Michel Bachelet.
Ukraine is invited to participate in the meeting. The Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the UN Serhiy Kislytsya is expected to make a speech.
Consideration of this issue was initiated by the United States as the country presiding over the Security Council in May.
The meeting will begin at 3:00 pm ET.
