01 August 2022 10:18
Dua Lipa has apologised after several people were left injured after fireworks went off during a concert in Toronto.

The pop star, 26, had been performing at the Scotiabank Arena on July 27 evening when the “unauthorised” fireworks began exploding, per Evening Standard.

Police said three people were being treated after sustaining “very minor injuries”.

The fireworks did not cause damage to the building. There are no suspects at this time.

Lipa apologised to fans and said she has been left “shocked and confused” by the events.

In a statement on Instagram, she wrote: “Last night, unauthorised fireworks went off in the crowd during my set in Toronto.

“Creating a safe and inclusive space at my shows is always my first priority, and my team and I are just as shocked and confused by the events as you all are.

A spokesperson for Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment (MLSE), which owns the arena, said that all fans walked through metal detectors upon arrival.

They told People: “Last night, at the end of a concert event at Scotiabank Arena, unauthorized and illegal fireworks were set off on the arena floor by a member of the audience.

“As a result, three attendees received minor aid on-site and were able to go home without a need for further medical attention," MLSE said in a statement.
