UNDP official commends Azerbaijan for climate change support
Alessandra Roccasalvo, the UNDP Resident Representative in Azerbaijan, expressed her gratitude to the country for its strong support of the multilateral system addressing climate change.
Speaking at an event themed “Building resilience and a sustainable future: The role of human development in combating climate change,” Roccasalvo highlighted the importance of collaborative efforts in tackling this global challenge, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
“We are here to fight climate change, but this must be done in a way that benefits the population and instills hope for the future. In this regard, I want to thank Azerbaijan for being a true supporter of the multilateral system,” she stated.
Roccasalvo noted that Azerbaijan is characterized by its diverse climate, encompassing nine climate belts, which presents unique challenges such as water scarcity and erosion. She shared her observations from a recent visit to Nakhchivan, where she experienced significantly higher temperatures, saying, “When it was 34 degrees in Baku, it was 36 degrees in Nakhchivan.”
