Estonia’s airspace was breached by several unidentified drones on the night of March 31, with debris from one drone later discovered in Tartu County, near the border with Russia, ERR reports.
Colonel Uku Arold, Head of Strategic Communications for the Defence Forces, said the drones likely veered off course during Ukrainian operations targeting Russian military infrastructure near the Baltic Sea.
“Most likely, these are drones that strayed from their intended routes,” Arold noted.
Debris from one of the drones was located in the Kastre municipality of Tartu County. The colonel confirmed that several drones were detected by radar and intercepted by fighter jets, but none were shot down while over Estonian territory.
