University of Arizona police detain 69 for unauthorized protest camp in support of Palestine

The police of the University of Arizona detained 69 people who set up an unauthorized tent camp on the territory of the educational institution as part of a rally in support of Palestine, TASS reports.

Earlier, local media reported that on the territory of the University set up a tent camp in support of Palestine and against the policy of the American demonstration against Israel.

"Arizona State University police detained 69 people on Saturday for trespassing after they set up an unauthorized tent camp in violation of the university's policy," reads the statement on the website of the educational institution.

It is noted that most of the detainees are not students or employees of the university. On the eve of the representatives of the educational institution several times demanded from the demonstrators to leave the territory of the institution.

In the administration of the institution indicated that "the first priority of the University of Arizona is to create a safe and secure environment that supports the educational process".
