Unknown attackers target Merz’s CDU office in Germany

Unknown assailants threw stones at an office building of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU), the party led by German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, in the city of Offenbach, according to German media.

The incident occurred on September 21 at around 00:40 local time. Several windows were broken in the attack, with the damage estimated at around €6,000.

According to police, several people dressed in dark clothing fled the scene immediately after the attack. Law enforcement authorities suspect a political motive.

A letter claiming responsibility for the attack may also have been found.

The investigation has been handed over to the state security division.
