US advises citizens in Bahrain to remain indoors as conflict escalates

The US government has urged its citizens in Bahrain to stay indoors and remain vigilant as regional tensions in the Middle East escalate.

“There is no higher priority than the safety and security of American citizens for President Trump, Secretary of State Rubio, and the entire Department of State,” the embassy said.

“We are working on additional options to assist Americans to depart the Middle East. Please continue to check your email for additional information or last-minute changes. We are closely monitoring the situation and are committed to providing timely information and assistance to US citizens in the affected area. We urge all Americans to remain vigilant, follow local authorities’ instructions, and review the latest guidance from the US Embassy. Your well-being remains our foremost concern.”

The embassy emphasized that it will continue to share real-time updates to help Americans make informed decisions about their safety. “The US government is ready to help Americans leave the Middle East if you choose to take advantage of the options available,” the statement added. US citizens in Manama can also contact the State Department for departure information and assistance.

For those who opt to remain in Bahrain, the embassy advises preparing to shelter in a secure location and ensuring a supply of food, water, medications, and other essential items.

“The U.S. Embassy Manama has issued a shelter in place notification for Bahrain. We recommend all Americans in Bahrain do the same until further notice. To the extent possible, remain in a secure structure, and stay away from windows,” the advisory stated.

Due to the ongoing situation, the embassy has suspended routine consular services, operating only for emergencies. Citizens are urged to contact the embassy’s crisis-intake in case of urgent assistance.
