US Air Force B-1B strategic bombers expected to arrive in UK

A US C-5 Super Galaxy heavy military transport aircraft, which normally delivers supplies, spare parts, and personnel, has arrived at Fairford Air Base in England ahead of the arrival of US Air Force strategic bombers there.

The C-5 Super Galaxy flew from Dice Air Force Base, Texas, where the B-1B strategic bombers are stationed, Gloucestershire Live news service reported.

It points out that "although the official mission of the C-5 in Fairford is unknown, it is usual for cargo, parts, and personnel to be delivered to the air base in Gloucestershire before the deployment of bombers there.

Strategic bombers B-1B can take part in a large-scale air exercise Air Defender 2023, which will be held in June in Germany. More than 220 aircraft of the US Air Force, Germany, and other NATO member states will also join the drills.
