US aircraft carrier en route to Israel as Secretary of State visit rescheduled
The visit of US Secretary of State Mark Rubio to Israel has been rescheduled for March 2, Israeli media outlet N12 reported. Rubio had been originally set to arrive on February 28 to discuss nuclear negotiations with Iran alongside Israeli officials.
Meanwhile, the USS Gerald R. Ford was observed near the coast of Crete, Greece, after entering the Mediterranean amid rising tensions between the United States and Iran. The carrier is expected to arrive in Israel in the coming hours.
The deployment of the Gerald R. Ford comes as Washington maintains a significant military presence in the region, reflecting ongoing concerns about Iran’s nuclear program and regional security. Israeli and US officials are closely coordinating diplomatic and military efforts to address potential threats.
