US airstrikes on civilian sites in Yemen result in 370 casualties, Health Ministry claims

14 April 2025 13:53

The Ministry of Health and Environment in Yemen reported on April 14 that the death toll from the ongoing US airstrikes on civilian sites has risen to 370 since March 16.

According to an official statement, between March 16 and April 14, a total of 370 victims, including 123 martyrs, have been killed or wounded as a result of the US aggression. Among the deceased are women and children, Caliber.Az reports via Arab media.

The ministry strongly condemned the US military actions, particularly the direct targeting of civilians and civilian infrastructure. One of the latest attacks, an airstrike on the Al-Sawari Ceramics Factory in the Matnah area of the Bani Matar District in Sana’a Governorate, resulted in the deaths of six civilians and injuries to 30 others. The injured included five children and a woman, who were either factory workers or residents from nearby homes and farms.

The ministry labeled this attack as a "full-fledged war crime" and a "clear violation of all international laws and conventions." The statement further held the US administration fully responsible for its continued aggression against civilians and the systematic destruction of infrastructure and civilian facilities.

The Ministry of Health called on Arab and Islamic nations, as well as human rights and humanitarian organizations, to voice their condemnation of the ongoing US attacks on Yemen. The ministry urged these groups to take to the streets and public squares to express their outrage and stand against the "crimes of US aggression."

Since mid-March 2025, Yemen has faced a heightened campaign of US aggression, primarily targeting civilian infrastructure. This escalation follows Yemen’s declared solidarity with the Palestinian people amid the ongoing war in Gaza, which has seen widespread casualties and destruction due to Israeli military operations.

Yemen’s government has repeatedly emphasized that its support for Gaza is a matter of principle, grounded in religious, humanitarian, and national solidarity. In response, the United States has conducted dozens of airstrikes in Yemen, claiming to target missile launch sites and drone facilities allegedly used against Israeli and allied interests in the Red Sea region.

However, these US airstrikes have increasingly impacted civilian areas and infrastructure, prompting widespread public outrage in Yemen. The bombing of the Al-Sawari Ceramics Factory, in particular, has drawn accusations from Yemeni authorities of war crimes and violations of international law. The factory strike alone has resulted in numerous civilian casualties, including women and children.

Sana’a has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Gaza, insisting that US attacks will not deter the Yemeni people from their steadfast position in solidarity with the Palestinian cause.
