Hamas will disarm “the easy way or the hard way,” US ambassador says
The United States will ensure that Hamas is disarmed “the easy way or the hard way” in the Gaza Strip, US Ambassador to the United Nations Mike Waltz has stated.
In a post on X, Waltz said he hoped Hamas' leadership would act wisely and choose a peaceful path toward disarmament, Caliber.Az reports.
“Hamas will disarm. The President has made that clear. It is going to happen the easy way or the hard way. Let’s pray they make a more peaceful choice and do it the easy way," Waltz remarked.

On January 22, representatives of 19 countries signed the charter of the Peace Council on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos.
Established as part of the Gaza peace process, the council is intended to oversee governance in the enclave and, in the future, help prevent and resolve conflicts in other regions.
Washington has said additional countries have since joined the initiative.
The transition to the second phase of the Gaza settlement process remains complicated by the issue of Hamas' disarmament.
