US announces $125 million military aid package for Ukraine
This announcement was made by the U.S. Department of Defence, Caliber.Az reports.
The Pentagon highlighted that the aid package is designed to address Ukraine's urgent military needs. It includes air defence systems, multifunctional radars for detecting and countering enemy artillery and anti-tank weapons, and a variety of other equipment.
The package features Stinger missiles, HIMARS ammunition, 155mm and 105mm artillery rounds, multi-function radars, TOW anti-tank missiles, Javelin and AT-4 anti-tank systems, an unspecified number of HMMWV armoured vehicles, small arms ammunition, explosive devices and ammunition, critical infrastructure protection gear, and spare parts and support equipment.
To date, the US has committed approximately $55.3 billion in military assistance since Russia's invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022. Including earlier support since Russia’s initial invasion in 2014, total military aid from the US to Ukraine amounts to roughly $58.1 billion.
July saw the heaviest civilian casualties in Ukraine since October 2022, the U.N. Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine said Friday. Conflict-related violence killed at least 219 civilians and injured 1,018 in July, the mission said.
On Friday, a Russian missile strike on a shopping mall in Kostiantynivka, in the eastern Donetsk region, killed at least 14 people and wounded 44 others.
