US appoints observer to oversee ceasefire between Israel, Hezbollah
The United States has appointed a senior official to observe the ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon.
Major General Jasper Jeffers, from the US Special Operations Command Central (SOCCENT), arrived in Beirut to serve as co-chair for the Implementation and Monitoring Mechanism of the Cessation of Hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon, a post by the US Central Command (CENTCOM) on social media platform X says, Caliber.Az reports.

General Jeffers will collaborate with US Envoy to the Middle East, Amos Hochstein, who will serve as the civilian co-chair of the mission until a permanent civilian official is appointed. The observation mission will be led by the United States, with participation from Lebanese and Israeli military personnel, as well as UN peacekeepers and representatives from France.
