US approves $150 million satellite communications sale to Ukraine

30 August 2025 15:08

The US State Department has approved a potential $150 million Foreign Military Sale to Ukraine for satellite communications services and related equipment, including support for Starlink terminals.

The Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) notified Congress of the proposed sale, Caliber.Az reports.

“The proposed sale will support the foreign policy and national security objectives of the United States by improving the security of a partner country that is a force for political stability and economic progress in Europe,” the DSCA said.

Ukraine has requested an extension of satellite communications services for its Starlink terminals, along with US government and contractor engineering, technical, and logistics support.

According to the DSCA, “Ukraine will have no difficulty absorbing these articles and services into its armed forces.”

The agency also noted that the sale “will not alter the basic military balance in the region” and will not require additional US personnel in Ukraine. Starlink Services, based in Hawthorne, California, is expected to be the principal contractor.

The final dollar value may be lower depending on Ukraine’s final requirements, budget authority, and signed agreements.
