US army, navy successfully test joint hypersonic missile in Florida
The U.S. Army and the U.S. Navy have successfully launched a common hypersonic missile in a joint test conducted on March 26, 2026.
The launch took place at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station and was carried out by the Army’s Portfolio Acquisition Executive Fires in partnership with the Navy’s Portfolio Acquisition Executive Strategic Systems Programs, Pentagon reports.
The joint effort to field a common hypersonic missile across land- and sea-based platforms is intended to support the National Defense Strategy by accelerating timelines, reducing costs, and delivering a highly survivable capability.
According to the information provided, the system is designed to defeat time-sensitive, heavily defended, and high-value targets at speeds exceeding Mach 5.
