US Army Secretary Daniel Driscoll plans sequential talks with Kyiv and Moscow
US Army Secretary Daniel Driscoll, who is set to hold talks with Ukrainian authorities on November 19, intends to meet with the Russian side afterwards.
Driscoll, who has already arrived in Kyiv together with two four-star US Army generals, was scheduled to hold talks with Volodymyr Zelenskyy and other Ukrainian officials — as well as senior military figures and industry representatives — before later meeting with Russian officials, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.
The trip will centre on discussions with Ukraine’s leadership about the stalled peace process with Russia, despite Moscow rejecting all previous US–Ukrainian efforts to halt the fighting.
Washington and Kyiv are also advancing a major agreement on drone and autonomous munitions technologies, and the visit is partly intended to reinforce that initiative.
Ukraine has become a leading innovator in long- and short-range armed drones that have reshaped the battlefield and enabled strikes deep inside Russian territory.
The visit was outlined by two individuals familiar with the planning, who spoke on condition of anonymity due to the sensitivity of the national security issues involved.
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has not travelled to Kyiv, and spokespeople for Driscoll and George declined to comment.
