US assists Ukraine in strikes on Russian energy sites — Financial Times
The United States has reportedly been assisting Ukraine for several months in conducting strikes deep inside Russia targeting Russian energy facilities, the Financial Times reports.
“The US has for months been helping Ukraine mount long-range strikes on Russian energy facilities,” the publication states.
Citing Ukrainian and U.S. officials, the newspaper says that the intelligence provided to Kyiv has allegedly enabled strikes on “on important Russian energy assets including oil refineries far beyond the frontline.”
According to sources, American intelligence has been helping Ukraine determine the route, altitude, and timing of the strikes.
“A US official said Ukraine selected the targets for long-range strikes and Washington then provided intelligence on the sites’ vulnerabilities,” Financial Times writes.
Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU) told the newspaper that “Kyiv will work to increase the number and breadth of strikes within Russia.”
