US Attorney General vows to resign if Biden interferes in Trump's affairs
The head of the Justice Department, US Attorney General Merrick Garland, announced his readiness to leave his post if President Joe Biden interferes in the investigations carried out against his predecessor Donald Trump.
Garland assured that he does not discuss the progress of these investigations with the president or administration officials.
In an interview with CBS, Garland stressed that Biden never tried to interfere in the investigations. The head of the Justice Department was asked if President Biden asked him to take action with regard to the Trump investigation, what would his reaction be?
“I am sure that that will not happen, but I would not do anything in that regard. And if necessary, I would resign. But there is no sense that anything like that will happen,” Garland responded.
In 2022, Trump and his team were found guilty of fraud. The New York company Trump Organization, owned by the ex-president, has been limited in its actions and is threatened with a fine of hundreds of millions of dollars. Three more trials are ongoing against him, including a case of attempted seizure of power.
