US-based Azerbaijanis urge Washington to stop Armenia's provocations
The provocation of the Armenian Armed Forces on the state border with Azerbaijan provoked a protest by Azerbaijani diaspora organisations operating in the United States.
It was noted that the Coordinating Council of Azerbaijanis of America operating in the United States appealed to the local and international community in connection with the large-scale provocation committed by units of the Armenian Armed Forces on September 12, 2022, Report informs citing the Azerbaijani State Committee for Work with the Diaspora.
The statement issued by the members of the Board of the Coordinating Council provides detailed information about the losses as a result of the military provocation. Attention was drawn to the reasons for Armenia's aggressive actions contrary to international law. It was noted that the entire responsibility for this large-scale provocation, confrontation and losses lies with Armenia's military and political leadership: "These steps of Armenia are completely contrary to the normalisation and peace process in the South Caucasus region. At a time when large-scale reconstruction and construction works are being carried out in the territories of our historical homeland liberated from occupation, Armenia's aggression is another clear evidence that this country is hindering this process in every possible way."
The Coordinating Council demanded that the international community step up efforts towards taking practical steps in accordance with international law, suppressing the Armenian side's revanchist ideas and calling for peace to avoid the recurrence of such situations.
The head of the Friendship Organisation with Azerbaijan operating in North Carolina, Adika Igbal, sent a joint statement of Azerbaijani diaspora organisations on the incident on September 13 to the White House, Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, Assistant Deputy Secretary of State Erica Olson, Senators Richard Behr and Tom Tillis.

In an appeal to the local and international community signed by the founder and head of the Azerbaijani-American Youth Association Nabat Eminova, detailed information is given about another war crime committed by Armenia.
The statement stressed that all responsibility for the provocation, confrontation and losses falls on the military-political leadership of Armenia, and expressed concern about another provocation by official Yerevan, which, ignoring the norms of international law, undermines the normalisation and peace process in the South Caucasus region. The Azerbaijani youth called on the local and world community to condemn Armenia's unacceptable actions.
The Azerbaijani community in Texas has made an appeal to the local and international communities in response to the Armenian provocations committed since September 12. The statement signed by the head of the American-Azerbaijani Integration CentRE Samir Novruzov provides detailed information about Armenia's military provocation and draws attention to the reasons for this aggression. It was noted that all responsibility for provocation, confrontation and losses falls on the military-political leadership of Armenia.
The statement says that Armenia's aggressive policy completely contradicts the norms of international law, normalisation and the peace process in the region. The military provocation of Armenia at a time when Azerbaijan is carrying out large-scale reconstruction and construction work in these territories liberated from occupation was assessed as another clear example of the fact that Armenia is hindering this process in every possible way: "We, Americans of Azerbaijani origin living in Texas, demand from the world community to take practical steps in accordance with international law, to intensify efforts in the direction of suppressing Armenia's revanchist ideas and calling for peace to avoid a repetition of such situations."
The statement addressed to the local and international community, signed by the head of the Azerbaijani-American Cultural Association operating in Florida, Tohfa Eminova, also provides detailed information about the provocation. It was noted that the Azerbaijani community living in Florida is deeply concerned about Armenia's provocations, which contradict international legal norms. Our compatriots pointed out that Armenia, pursuing an aggressive policy, creates serious obstacles to a sustainable peace process in the region, and called on the international community to take decisive steps to prevent such unacceptable behaviour and push official Yerevan towards peace.
The Utah-Azerbaijan Friendship Organisation, operating in the US state of Utah, appealed to US officials in connection with the events of September 12-13. We firmly declare that these actions of Armenia do not correspond to the process of normalisation of relations between the two countries and the establishment of peace in the South Caucasus region. We call on you to condemn the ongoing aggression of Armenia against Azerbaijan, to intensify your efforts to take practical steps at the international level to prevent the recurrence of such provocations," the statement reads.
The non-governmental organisation Azerbaijan Network USA (USAN) operating in the United States of America has launched a petition in protest against another military provocation by units of the Armenian Armed Forces along the Azerbaijani borders.
The petition draws attention to the fact that the military provocation occurred after the aggressor country's Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's return from the Eastern Economic Forum held in Russia, successful peace talks in Brussels, Azerbaijan's statement about increasing gas supplies to Europe by 30 per cent this year.
It is reported that although the Azerbaijani army responds promptly to Armenia's armed provocations, it is very important to inform officials and elected officials about Armenia's targeted actions against Azerbaijan, which is an ally of the United States. USAN called on our compatriots to take an active part in the action.
