US boosts military support to Poland with $11 billion investment
Polish Minister of National Defense Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz has said that the US will allocate $11 billion to Poland for military needs under the Foreign Military Finance (FMF) programme.
Kosiniak-Kamysz made these remarks following talks with US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
“This $11 billion financial support will directly impact the transformation and modernization of the Polish Armed Forces, thereby strengthening our military cooperation,” the Polish minister wrote on social media.
He emphasised that the Poland-US alliance has never been stronger than it is now. The US Secretary of Defense is currently on a visit to Poland, where he is holding several meetings with the country's leadership.
Earlier, the US provided an additional $4 billion Foreign Military Financing (FMF) loan guarantee to Poland, bringing the total value of US loans and loan guarantees to Poland to just over $11 billion within the last two years.
Poland is a cornerstone of NATO’s Eastern Flank and a key strategic partner for the United States. Since 2023, Poland has embarked on an unprecedented program of military modernization, significantly strengthening its defence capabilities. This modernization includes major acquisitions of advanced US defense systems such as Apache helicopters, the Airspace and Surface Radar Reconnaissance System, High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS), and Patriot air and missile defence systems.
