US can send any specific weapon to Ukraine, including F-16
The US presidential administration will "thoroughly discuss" the possibility of supplying Ukraine with F-16 fighter jets, and does not exclude the possibility.
The remarks made part of Joe Biden's security adviser John Finer's answer to the corresponding question on MSNBC.
According to him, Washington does not exclude the supply of "any specific weapons systems to Ukraine", and military assistance to Kyiv is provided "in accordance with their needs with the phases of the struggle of the Ukrainians."
“We will discuss this very carefully with the allies,” he said about the transfer of combat aircraft to Ukraine.
Earlier, the transfer of the F-16 to the Air Force was also allowed by the US Department of Defense, emphasizing that "we are definitely not going to remove anything from the agenda."
As was the case with the M1 Abrams tanks, Pentagon spokesperson Sabrina Singh said at a briefing that this fighter is "a complex weapon system that will require extensive training." Literally a few days before the decision to supply tanks to Kyiv in the United States, there were the same remarks in Washington about those tanks.
