US clears $1.85 billion F-35 support package for Poland

27 August 2025 14:18

The U.S. State Department has approved a potential Foreign Military Sale to Poland for F-35 sustainment and related logistics support valued at approximately $1.85 billion.

The Defence Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) confirmed that Congress has been formally notified of the proposed transaction, Caliber.Az reports, referring to foreign media.

Poland’s request encompasses a comprehensive set of equipment and services, including the Aircraft Engine Component Improvement Program, spare parts, modifications, consumables, repair and return support, and both classified and unclassified software and technical documentation.

The package also includes U.S. Government and contractor-provided engineering, technical, and logistics services, as well as broader program support.

According to the State Department, “This proposed sale will support the foreign policy and national security objectives of the United States by improving the security of a NATO Ally that is a force for political and economic stability in Europe.” Officials emphasised that the program will enhance Poland’s capacity to sustain its F-35 fleet against current and emerging threats.

The Department noted, “The proposed sale will improve Poland’s capability to meet current and future threats by increasing the reliability of its F-35 fleet. Poland will have no difficulty absorbing these articles and services into its armed forces.” It further clarified that the sale would not alter the basic military balance in the region.

General Electric Aerospace, headquartered in Evendale, Ohio, will serve as the principal contractor for the program. The U.S. Government indicated that no offset agreements are planned and that the sale will not require additional American or contractor personnel to be deployed to Poland.
