US closes consulate in Pakistan’s Peshawar
The United States has closed its Consulate General in Peshawar, transferring responsibility for diplomatic engagement with Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province to a dedicated unit at the U.S. Embassy in Islamabad.
“The U.S. Consulate General Peshawar has closed and responsibility for diplomatic engagement with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has transferred to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Unit [KPU] at the U.S. Embassy in Islamabad. This U.S. Consulate Peshawar page is no longer active,” the consulate said on X, Caliber.Az reports.

The U.S. mission said diplomatic efforts to promote trade and commercial ties, strengthen security cooperation and build partnerships with the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and across Pakistan would continue through the U.S. Embassy in Islamabad.
