US closes Radio Free Europe’s Hungarian service
The Hungarian service of Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (RFE/RL) will close its operations on November 21, 2025, following directives from the United States Agency for Global Media (USAGM).
Over the years, the editorial team has worked diligently to provide Hungarian audiences with independent and objective reporting, Caliber.Az reports per Radio Free Europe.
In a statement, the service expressed gratitude to its readers for their trust, interest, and support.
While no new content will be published, previously produced articles will remain accessible online. The service has invited readers to explore a curated selection of its most notable pieces via the homepage or to navigate the site’s content sections.
“Thank you for being with us,” the statement concluded, marking the end of a significant chapter in independent Hungarian-language journalism.
