US defence chief defends decision to cut ties with AnthropicAI
US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth has stated that the Pentagon’s decision to end cooperation with AnthropicAI was justified.
Writing on X, Hegseth noted that three months ago the US Department of War made a permanent decision to cease engagement with the company.
“Every passing day proves why that was the right move,” he concluded.
Three months ago, @DeptofWar kicked @AnthropicAI out of our building—forever.

Anthropic is an AI safety and research company founded in 2021 by siblings Dario Amodei (CEO) and Daniela Amodei (President), along with other former OpenAI executives, after they left due to concerns over safety and development practices.
It develops the Claude family of large language models, emphasising reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems with a focus on ethical safeguards like Constitutional AI.
The company has secured massive funding rounds, including from Amazon and Google, and has grown rapidly with strong enterprise adoption of Claude.
