US Defence Secretary: Trump committed to peace in Ukraine

US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth has said that President Donald Trump is committed to peace and dedicated to stopping the bloodshed in Ukraine. 

His remarks came in response to a call to strengthen military and other ties between Washington and Kyiv, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media. 

During a hearing before the House Appropriations Committee, Hegseth commented on a lawmaker's appeal for the Trump administration not to turn away from Kyiv and to assist in combat operations. However, the defence secretary explicitly denied that his statements should be interpreted as abandoning Ukraine to its fate. Hegseth also confirmed that he has not visited Ukraine and did not signal any intention to do so.
