Energy secretary: US to deter Iran nuclear drive “one way or another”
The United States will block Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons “one way or the other,” US Energy Secretary Chris Wright said.
Speaking in Paris on the sidelines of International Energy Agency meetings, Wright emphasised that President Donald Trump is firmly convinced that we must not have an Iran with nuclear weapons, Caliber.Az reports via Iranian media.
“They’ve been very clear about what they would do with nuclear weapons. It’s entirely unacceptable,” Wright added. “So one way or the other, we are going to deter Iran’s march towards a nuclear weapon.”
The statement came a day after US and Iranian officials held talks in Geneva aimed at preventing potential US military intervention in Tehran’s nuclear program.
Iran said the discussions produced agreements on “guiding principles” for a deal, while US Vice President JD Vance accused Tehran of ignoring Washington’s “red lines.”
