US envoy Tom Barrack meets Iraqi Kurdistan leaders amid Syria talks PHOTO
On February 25, U.S. Special Presidential Envoy and Ambassador to Türkiye Tom Barrack visited Iraq and met with the current President Nechirvan Barzani, former President Masoud Barzani, and the Prime Minister of Iraqi Kurdistan.
According to Caliber.Az, the meetings were reported on the social media platform X.
The discussions focused on U.S.–Iraq bilateral relations, the political situation in Iraq, and recent developments in Syria. Participants expressed support for the agreement between the Syrian government and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). Former President Masoud Barzani, head of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), emphasised the importance of maintaining the U.S.–Iraq partnership for the Iraqi people.
Barrack also met with Bafel Talabani, head of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK). The meeting was attended by Mazlum Abdi, commander of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). Discussions focused primarily on the implementation of the agreement between the SDF and the Syrian government.
