US: Fatal crash at Arizona airfield leaves two dead

Two people have died after a small aircraft went off the runway and caught fire at a regional airport in the US state of Arizona, local officials said.

The incident occurred at Marana Regional Airport, about 32 km northwest of Tucson, Caliber.Az reports via US media.

Marana Mayor Jon Post said the plane veered off the runway before bursting into flames. City officials said two people were on board the aircraft and were killed in the crash. Their identities have not yet been released.

No other injuries were reported, and no other aircraft were involved in the incident, according to a statement from the Marana Police Department.
