US forces launch strikes on Iranian territory, CENTCOM says

US forces have carried out strikes on Iranian territory, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) said in a post on X.

“U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) forces successfully completed a heavy wave of strikes against Iran in response to yesterday's attempted missile attacks on U.S. forces.

CENTCOM assets struck dozens of Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) targets in Iran, including military command centers, missile and drone facilities, coastal surveillance and defense sites, and maritime capabilities,” the command noted.

Among the sites hit were facilities on Qeshm Island in the Strait of Hormuz, Iran’s deputy governor of Hormozgan province said, as quoted by Mehr.

Meanwhile, local residents told Tasnim that one of the missiles struck a residential area. No casualties have been reported.

The strikes came a day after Iran targeted a US military base in Jordan, ending a four-day ceasefire between the two sides.

CENTCOM previously said it had successfully repelled the Iranian attack. Later, US President Donald Trump warned that the United States would not leave the attack unanswered and vowed to hit Iran with overwhelming force.
