US hopes France will join Board of Peace on Gaza
The United States is seeking French participation in a new Board of Peace on Gaza, an initiative announced by President Donald Trump.
US Special Envoy Stephen Witkoff said Washington views France’s involvement as highly beneficial and is hopeful that President Emmanuel Macron will take part, Caliber.Az reports per foreign media.
Witkoff added that the US will hold a series of discussions over the next 24 hours with other countries that have been invited to join the board.
The Board of Peace, set to be officially launched by US President Donald Trump on January 22, is designed to oversee reconstruction efforts in Gaza.
The initiative stems from the Comprehensive Plan for Ending the Gaza Conflict, presented in September 2025, and has received international recognition, including endorsement through UN Security Council Resolution 2803 on November 17, 2025.
