US leader leaves for Europe to attend G7, NATO summits
US President Joe Biden travels to Europe on June 25 to attend the Group of Seven (G7) and NATO summits.
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken will also join the US leader during his upcoming trip, TASS reports.
The G-7 leaders’ summit will be held in Elmau Castle near Garmisch-Partenkirchen city (Federal State of Bavaria) in southern Germany on June 26-28 while the NATO summit will be held in Madrid, Spain on June 28-30. The situation in Ukraine is expected to be one of the key topics of both events.
“The US intends to actively discuss the issues related to rendering and possible expansion of military assistance to Ukraine. The G7 leaders will also discuss the issue of ‘increasing pressure on the Russian Federation,” a representative of the US administration told reporters earlier.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will deliver a speech at both summits via videoconference.
