US may transfer modern Western figther jets to Ukraine
Chief of Staff of the US Air Force Charles Brown has not ruled out that the US side may transfer modern Western fighters to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
The combat aircraft which are planned to be delivered would not be Russian-made, Russia’s Kommersant newspaper quotes Brown as saying.
“I could probably tell you that,” Brown said. “But I can’t tell you exactly what it’s going to be. There are the US ones, there are Gripen from Sweden, there are Eurofighter or Rafale. So, there are a number of different weapons systems that could be supplied to Ukraine,” Brown said at the Aspen Security Forum (a recording of Brown’s speech is available on The Aspen Institute YouTube channel).
“The US and its allies are also considering the possibility of training Ukrainian pilots for long-term military assistance to Kyiv,” Brown told Reuters on July 20.
