US military strikes Houthi drone in Yemen
The US Central Command (CENTCOM) has announced that the US military forces struck a Houthi drone in Yemen, targeting a UAV operated by the Ansar Allah insurgent group.
"CENTCOM forces successfully destroyed one Houthi drone in territory under their control in Yemen," CENTCOM’s message posted on X said, Caliber.Az reports citing the Russian media.
Following the escalation of the conflict in the Gaza Strip, the Ansar Allah movement warned that it would target Israeli territory and prevent related vessels from passing through the Red Sea and Bab-el-Mandeb Strait until operations in the Palestinian enclave cease. Since mid-November 2023, the Houthis have attacked dozens of civilian ships in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden. In response to Ansar Allah’s actions, US authorities have announced the formation of an international coalition and the launch of an operation to ensure freedom of navigation and protect vessels in the Red Sea.
