US names best route for Ukrainian grain export
Deputy National Security Advisor for the Biden Administration Jon Finer has said that the export of Ukrainian grain through the port of Odesa would be the best option.
Finer made the statement at a briefing on June 21, according to Gazeta.ru.
“The problem is that Russia is using its fleet to blockade this port and prevent Ukraine from supplying grain to the world markets,” he added.
Finer noted that Belarus could become another direction for the export of Ukrainian grain, but this option is problematic due to certain reasons, including because Russian troops are stationed there.
Earlier, it was reported that for the export of Ukrainian grain, the possibility of opening safe corridors from the ports of Odesa is being considered. Türkiye, the UN, Ukraine and Russia are discussing this issue within the Istanbul mechanism.
