US Navy to receive funds to build seven warships

The Pentagon's 2024 defence budget envisages the allocation of more than $32 billion to build seven warships and submarines, as well as two support vessels.

In particular, the matter rests in two Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyers, two Constellation-class frigates, the first new strategic nuclear-powered intercontinental ballistic missile submarine Columbia-class and two Virginia-class nuclear attack submarines, Interfax reports citing a report by the US Congressional Research Service.

The US Navy's five-year plan, starting from 2024, includes the construction of a total of 55 ships.

As of late September, the Navy had 295 warships, which is less than the US fleet announced in 2017. The US announced 355 ships.
