US offers Iran access to $6 billion in frozen funds under nuclear inspection deal

21 June 2026 09:39

The United States is prepared to grant Iran access to part of its frozen assets if Tehran agrees to allow United Nations inspectors to visit its nuclear facilities, Axios reports.

According to sources cited by the outlet, the proposal involves a $6 billion account held in Qatar, with the funds intended for the purchase of essential goods.

Washington expects Iran to invite UN inspectors to sites that were previously targeted by US and Israeli strikes following the first round of negotiations.

Technical consultations between the United States and Iran are scheduled to take place on June 21 in Bürgenstock. Representatives from Pakistan and Qatar are also expected to participate in the talks.
