US offers Ukraine 15-year security guarantees, says Zelenskyy
Washington has offered Kyiv security guarantees lasting 15 years, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said during remarks at the Munich Security Conference.
Zelenskyy noted that while the final duration will depend on the position of the US administration under President Donald Trump, Ukraine is seeking to extend the proposed term to a minimum of 20 years, Caliber.Az reports.
According to Ukraine’s partners, robust, legally binding security guarantees are essential to deter future Russian aggression and ensure that Kyiv can defend itself and contribute to Europe’s stability after the war.
European institutions argue that strong security assurances help prevent hasty peace deals that could leave Ukraine vulnerable to renewed attacks, supporting long‑term deterrence and regional security.
