US officials reveal possession of detailed intelligence on Iran’s nuclear activities Al Arabiya writes

03 June 2025 17:24

The United States officials have revealed that Washington possesses detailed intelligence on Tehran’s activities.

Speaking to Al Arabiya, multiple US administration sources affirmed that American intelligence agencies maintain a close watch on Iran's nuclear capabilities, enabling the US to uncover critical developments and respond accordingly, Caliber.Az reports.

“We have the ability to see details of the nuclear program,” a senior US official told Al Arabiya and Al Hadath.

Another official emphasised that US assessments show Iran is actively building knowledge and capabilities within its nuclear infrastructure — a trend that Washington finds deeply troubling.

“Our knowledge of the nuclear program indicates that it is developing capabilities and knowledge, and the United States is not at all comfortable with the development of this program, so we want a diplomatic solution,” the official stated.

This intelligence advantage is cited as a key reason for what some describe as the US administration’s “flexibility” in dealing with Iran. Officials assert that this approach combines vigilance with a preference for diplomacy, aiming to avoid escalation in an already tense region.

While current administration spokespeople acknowledge similarities between former President Joe Biden’s Iran policy and that of President Trump, they stress a critical distinction: Trump is determined to prevent regional destabilisation, particularly through military action.

"Trump is different. He does not want Israel to sabotage the negotiations with Iran with a military operation. Trump wants to maintain security and stability in the region, because turmoil in the region has an impact on the entire world,” a US official said.

Officials insist that any future agreement will contain robust safeguards to block Iran’s path to a nuclear weapon. At the same time, they aim to reassure regional allies that the US remains the principal guarantor of Middle East security.

“The United States has been the primary guarantor of security for decades and will remain so,” an official said. “Everyone knows that stability and prosperity are linked to the United States. The current administration has a serious and balanced assessment of the situation in the region, and President Trump's team knows exactly what it is doing. We hope these efforts will bear fruit."
