US Patriot missile stocks expected to be replenished by late 2028

20 July 2026 12:00

The United States and its allies are expected to receive new Patriot missiles ordered after stockpiles were depleted during the conflict with Iran only by the end of 2028, according to US government documents.

The documents indicate that $7.13 billion has been allocated under two existing contracts with Lockheed Martin to procure additional Patriot missiles, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.

Of that amount, $1.93 billion is earmarked for the US Army, while the remainder is funded by foreign partners through the Foreign Military Sales (FMS) programme.

The average cost of a PAC-3 MSE missile for the US Army is estimated at $4.3 million, meaning the allocated funding is sufficient to purchase more than 1,600 interceptors.

The documents indicate that fulfilling a follow-on order for PAC-3 MSE missiles takes approximately 30 months.

As a result, deliveries of missiles ordered after the outbreak of the Iran conflict in late February 2026 are not expected before the end of 2028.
