US police detain suspect in beating ethnic Azerbaijani activist from Iran
A man suspected of beating ethnic Azerbaijani activist [from Iran] Ahmad Obali has been detained.
The activist wrote about it on his page on the social network, Oxu.Az reports.
He stressed that there were many rumours about the incident, but they were false.
"The man who brutally beat me has already been detained by the US police. The law enforcers do not want us to talk to anyone about this, to create grounds for spreading rumours. The investigation is continuing and the people who might have been behind this act are being sought," Obali said.
The activist stressed that his health condition is normal and there is no threat to his life.
"I am fine, but my arm and leg are still paralysed. There is hope that it will pass," he added.
On the morning of May 21, Ahmad Obali, the founder and head of Gunaz TV, a national activist living in exile in the US, was brutally beaten by an unknown assailant in the state of California.
